Roelof Rossouw has a solo exhibition titled Zanzibar at The Cape Gallery that opens on Sunday April 16 at 4pm.
And there’s no better person to tall us about the exhibition than the artist himself.
” I visited Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar in September 2022. The rustic little shops and kiosks attracted my attention and I really got excited while taking photos.”
“It was a great treat capturing the vibrant colors and quaint character on canvas. On some of the paintings I used acrylic and decoupage with oil as I sought for ways of expressing the beauty of the old flaking walls. Most of these walls are decorated by faded posters and signs and my technique evolved.”
