Rose Korber Art has curated a Contemporary Art Exhibition in collaboration with Provenance Auction House until 5 June 2015.
On Saturday 30 May 2015 at 10.30 there will be a ‘walk and talk about’ with Rose Korber and several of the exhibiting artists at the Gallery
After decades of providing local and overseas art collectors with quality contemporary South African art, Rose Korber sold her house last year, which also housed her art gallery and hosted the well-known annual summer ‘Art Salon’. Regardless of this dramatic change, Rose continued to share her passion and knowledge of art with her many local and international clients and guests.
Invited by a group of young, dynamic and enthusiastic go-getters from Provenance Auction House and their associated gallery, Rose accepted their offer to collaborate with them as senior curator and art investment consultant.
Housed in a striking Art Deco building with anthracite painted walls at No 8 Vrede Street, off Hatfield Street, Gardens, adjacent to the SA National Gallery and the Jewish Museum, one enters the building through its 5 meter hand crafted copper front doors into an eclectic mix of fine furniture, carpets and items of quality ready for auction. You are welcome to wonder through this area before or after visiting The Rose Korber Art exhibition.
By contrast the white washed walls and floors of the exhibition space extends to three levels where over 25 acclaimed artist’s works are presented, not unlike Rose’s former salons.
Amongst the exhibiting artists are: William Kentridge, Marlene Dumas, Deborah Bell, Robert Slingsby, Sam Nhlengethwa, Wendy Anziska, Kevin Atkinson, Beezy Baily, Willie Bester, Norman Catherine, Christo Coetzee, John Kramer and Pamela Stretton. There are ceramics by Louise Gelderblom and Laura Du Toit, photography by Stephen Inggs and beaded necklaces by Gordon Radowsky.
