Shades of Mood at Eclectica Modern Gallery

In a show titled Shades of Mood at Eclectica Modern Gallery, 4 artists explore various moods of our environment.

Louis Nel’s dark hazy landscapes evoke a sense of the mysterious, an uneasy feeling of the unknown. He paints from memory and as memories fade, details are forgotten.
Helen van Stolk captures fleeting moments of our frenetic city street scenes. The immediacy of her expressionistic brushwork conveys the pulsation of the night life.
Mary Visser explores the collective urban experience; the tension beneath the calm, the ambiguous, the nuanced. With gestural sweeps and smears of colour, her images shift between the abstract and the representational.
Rick Becker’s paintings speak of how his soul resonates with the solitude and space of the Karoo. The ancient landscapes evoke nostalgic moods.
