The SOLO Section, the ninth edition of the Investec Cape Town Art Fair, will feature works by a number of emerging and established artists from around the world.
This section offers a more in-depth view of varied artistic practices from a wide cross-section of contexts – in the form of curated solo presentations. In its fourth iteration, SOLO will explore how artists have reacted to intimacy and introspection caused by the pandemic, as well as the effect of exchange and collaboration on artistic practice.
SOLO will extend on Investec Cape Town Art Fair’s project, insight-out, launched in 2020: the Fair invited artists from galleries that were part of the 2020 edition to look within and engage with a playful Q&A relating to isolation and the intimacy and introspection that results. Extending on this, SOLO explores how artists have reacted to this period, as well as opening up a conversation about the effect that exchange and collaboration have on the artist’s production.
2022’s edition of SOLO Section will include presentations by:
Luyanda Zindela (South Africa) of SMAC Gallery
Thebe Phetogo (Botswana) of Guns and Rain
Brett Seiler (Zimbabwe) of Everard Read
Osvaldo Ferreira (Angola) of THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE
Duduzile (DuduBloom) More (South Africa) of Berman Contemporary
Johannes Phokela (South Africa) of Eclectica Contemporary
