The Fantastic Grifizzi Brothers is bringing their acclaimed animal-free circus production, The Story of the Moon, to the V&A Waterfront for the spring school holidays.
Presented in a 200 seater Big Top tent erected next to the Two Oceans Aquarium, the show will run for ten days only, from 29 September to 10 October 2017.
The Story of the Moon
The Story of the Moon is an enchanting production conceptualized by Richard Griffin and the team that brought South Africa Madame Zingara. Directed by Marc Colli in association with Christine Chapman and Heidi Schmitz, the story weaves a sweet tale about the lonely Moon (played by Rory Avenstrup) and her quest to be happy like the folk in the circus she sees below.
Lilian Khumalo as Mama Circus leads the cast of international and local artists performing various acts that include acrobatics, clowning, boladeros, quick change, song and the only ‘animal’ in the show called Zelda the cloth zebra, brought together in a magical and uplifting production that has charmed all who have seen it in its inaugural seasons in Fish Hoek and Stellenbosch.
Treats will be for sale from the vintage confectionary truck on site, and for those wanting a more substantial meal, the Vista Marina restaurant inside the Aquarium offers delicious cuisine and overlooks beautiful views of Table Mountain and the V&A Waterfront’s North Wharf.
