Derek tells us by “BUMPER” he’s talking about Edition #324 having 64 pages – 40 pages for the adult reader and 24 pages making up The Little Issue, the separate pull out for children. With this edition’s theme being “Give the greatest gift of all – Education”, The Little Issue is a BIG issue, So, please make sure you pass on The Little Issue to a little one. AND what about buying an extra copy to give as a gift to a family with kids!
The Big Issue BUMPER HOLIDAY EDITION is sold at the higher price of R40 to help vendors have more money to allow themselves to travel home and also to have money for back to school costs in January. That little bit extra helps. And remember, The Big Issue is all about keeping people employed and self sufficient.
Derek also mentions some articles and surprisingly mentions an article and photo spread about Prisoners on Death Row. Not what you’d expect to find in a Christmas edition – we’ll have to see how this all fits in with the special bumper edition!
The URGENT APPEAL that featured so prominently in The Big Issue #323 is another topic Derek explains, They are still trying to raise funds to cover that hacker-scam, and buying copies of the Big Issue BUMPER HOLIDAY EDITION will certainly help!
The Vendor Art Programme, is another ongoing project that is a feature of each edition, highlighting works that can be bought. The bumper edition has an extra page of artworks and here’s hoping you’ll want to buy a Vendor artwork for yourself or as Christmas gifts!
