Vendor Artist – Michael Van der Walt

Mike is in his late 60’s and lives in an old age home. He is enjoys living an independent life, cooking for himself, doing his own laundry and making an income for himself selling the Big Issue. Mike works very hard to take care of himself because says he never wants to beg from anyone. In the old age home, Mike lives together with his cat Mavis. He describes Mavis as his companion. Together with his cat they are called “MM” Mike and Mavis. He believes in having a positive mindset always and moving forward never backwards. He has good relationship with his customers. In his spare time Mike plays chess, goes to the beach and enjoys life in general. He also enjoys the art workshops.

Michael Van der Walt : Happy under the sea is based on the Art Theme: Colour that nourishes bringing joy, peace and relaxation “Colour is a power that directly influences the Soul” – Wassily Kandinsky.
