Women's Day 2023 and Crown Chakra unveiled by Tinyiko Mageza

The Vuyo Oyiya sculpture ‘Crown Chakra’ was unveiled as part of the V&A Waterfronts Art in Public Spaces programme and perfectly timed as a tribute to Women’s Day 2023 by Art@Africa!

What a buzzzzz! A large crowd gathered at the Clock Tower building, home to Art@Africa to view the all women’s exhibition and first be treated to the unveiling of two works by Vuyo Oyiya that featured in the show. But the focus was the as yet unveiled work outside waiting to go public. V&A’s Tinyiko Mageza first addressed the large audience and introduced us to her team that orchestrated the event. And then with a procession of praise singers we were led out to the unveiling.

Vuyo Oyiya will be doing walkabouts at Art@Africa, Please get in touch with Dirk Durnez  (see info below) to get info of times and other events happening around the current exhibition. And then take time to view other works in the Art in Public Spaces at the Waterfront.

Here are a few photos that will hopefully reflect some of the key moments in this wonderful event.
