Cape Town has been selected as a finalist in the WWF’s We Love Cities campaign as part of the Earth Hour City Challenge to find the Most Lovable Sustainable City in the world. Standing in 8th position, Cape Town needs your vote now!

The Mother City has been selected from among 163 entrants from 34 cities and 14 countries, because of its impressive attempts to actively address climate change and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels, whilst moving toward a truly sustainable future.

Since the public voting opened in January, Cape Town has moved into the eighth position, with Durban leading the SA charge in second place. The public has till the 20th of March to vote for Cape Town via the We Love Cities website, Twitter and Instagram by using the hash tag #welovecapetown.

‘Cape Town is being acknowledged for the incredible efforts being made by so many individuals and organisations across the city striving to make this a more sustainable, more habitable place. Now Cape Town’s residents have the opportunity to mobilise towards that dream with the same spirit, ingenuity, and accountability that we saw with the hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™,’ – Alderman Patricia de Lille.

PLEASE support the campaign, vote for the Mother City and submit ideas on how to make improvements on our way to becoming more sustainable.  It’s easy – please click here NOW.  And note that you can vote daily.
