Zeitz MOCAA holiday programming is created for art-loving children! The museum is incredibly proud to contribute to arts education and the arts ecosystem in South Africa through the workshops, discussions and numerous other programmes hosted by their Centre for Art Education (CFAE).
Zeitz MOCAA’s CFAE will be running a children’s summer holiday programme, Colour for Africa, from 16 to 24 December 2022. Art-loving little ones will be exploring colour as reflected in our latest exhibitions – participating in activities from painting to weaving and all guided by our fabulous museum educators. Children will be working in a variety of 2D and 3D mediums to imagine and create their own colourful visions in an environment that encourages playful investigation of materials and techniques.
Free entry for children under the age of 18. All children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Single entry for non-members is R230. Parents are asked to bring their child(ren) to the Centre for Art Education (CFAE), where they will be registered for the workshop. Please do not leave your child(ren) unattended in the reception area.
Applications are still open for the 2023 MOCAA Art Club (M A C) cohort aimed at high school students from grades 9 through 11, aged 14 to 17 years. Teenagers are invited to apply for the programme, which begins in February 2023, where they will enjoy a collaborative space to connect with each other and think and learn about art.

Do not miss When We See Us: A Century of Black Figuration in Painting which opened in November to acclaim. With afocus on painting, the exhibition features nearly 200 artworks and 154 artists from 28 countries. The show celebrates how artists from Africa and its diaspora have imagined, positioned, memorialised and asserted African and African-descent experiences. It contributes to critical discourse on African and Black liberation, intellectual and philosophical movements. In addition to the exhibition, When We See Us also comprises a publication and discursive programming that will run through Sunday, 3 September 2023.
During summer, You are urged to view the other exhibitions at Zeitz MOCAA, including The Five Continents of All Our Desires, a site-specific commission of six large-scale sculptures suspended in the museum’s atrium by Malagasy artist Joël Andrianomearisoa, and Indigo Waves and Other Stories: Re-Navigating the Afrasian Sea and Notions of Diaspora, on show until 29 January 2023.
