Children’s Winter Holiday Programme
Tuesday, 28 June sees the start of the popular Children’s Winter Holiday Programme. The programme includes exciting workshops during the school holidays and this year’s edition will allow children to work in a variety of 2D and 3D mediums to imagine and create their own architectural visions in an environment that encourages playful investigation of materials and techniques. This year’s programme offers two age-specific workshops a day until Saturday, 2 July.
See Programme below.
MOCAA Art Club
The CFAE is also launching a new MOCAA Art Club aimed at high school students in grades 9 through 11. Teenagers are invited to apply for membership to the club, where they will enjoy a space to connect with each other and make and learn about art.
“The intention of MOCAA Art Club is to develop visual art literacy and criticality in an environment that fosters social cohesion and an understanding of diverse attitudes and practices,” says Liesl Hartman, Head of Education at Zeitz MOCAA’s Centre for Art Education. “The curriculum will explore contemporary art from Africa and its diaspora through exhibition visits, discussions, art-making and reviews, and the club members will work towards an exhibition that they will curate and install at Zeitz MOCAA.”
To ensure access for all to the MOCAA Art Club, the CFAE has introduced both paid and bursary memberships, with bursaries awarded to students from no or low-paying schools in Cape Town who show a keen interest and promise in their art-making capabilities. Applications for MOCAA Art Club close on Monday, 18 July.
“We are extremely proud to be able to offer a variety of programmes and access to art education to the different schools and communities of the Western Cape, and are keen for opportunities for collaboration,” adds Hartman.
