Ceramics is the focus this weekend

Ceramics come into focus this weekend, with two exhibitions opening on Saturday and one on Sunday.  Don’t miss out and enjoy the outing with other interesting stops along the way.

Hit the Ceramics Trail by visiting these 3 galleries.

  • Spin Street Gallery in Cape Town with new works by Clementina van der Walt
  • Sarah Walters Studio Gallery in Newlands focusing on bowls by Sarah and well known ceramicists
  • Rust-en-Vrede in Durbanville showing works by Hennie Meyer and Ralph Johnson

ZOOM into Spin Street Gallery and surrounds

Clementina van der Walt at Spin Street Gallery.   Recalibration is the title of Clementina’s exhibition. “With regard to my ceramic practice, I have revisited my entire ceramic ‘journey’ and pulled together threads which resonate. ZOOM into Sarah Walters and surrounds

Bowls at Sarah Walters who invites you to be bowled over by BOWLS, the new exhibition, opening at her studio gallery in Newlands Village on Saturday 15 May.  WHERE: 7 Wheelan St, Newlands, Cape Town, 7700.

Barnard Gallery is practically next door, showing Lien Botha’s quirky exhibition Lost in Translation which ends on 18 May.  Montebello Design Centre is nearby and always has interesting ceramics in the shops and studios – plus great places for coffee and lunch.  WHERE: 31 Newlands Ave, Newlands, Cape Town 7700

ZOOM into Rust-en-Vrede and surrounds

Hennie Meyer & Ralph Johnson at Rust-en-Vrede Gallery.  This is your last chance to see their exhibition Containers & Maquettes that ends on 19 May.  WHERE: 10 Wellington Rd, Durbanville, Cape Town, 7550,  Good news is that Hennie Meyer opens a new exhibition at MOK Gallery on the Muratie Wine Estate on Sunday 16 May.

Sanlam Art Gallery is worth a visit to see their current exhibition Interiority refers to the inner psychic life experienced by the viewer when contemplating the images.  This selection of works presents the viewer with a diversity of images to  contemplate.
