If anyone has their ducks in a row for Easter, it’s Vergenoegd Wine Estate. Famed for its flock of hard-working runner ducks – whose daily Duck Parade at 09:45 and 15:30 is a delight for children and adults alike.
The farm is open throughout the Easter school holidays. What’s more there is something going on every day of the upcoming Easter long weekend.

The popular Harvest Lunches run until the end of March and happen on Thursday, Friday and Saturday lunchtimes. The sit-down three course shared lunch takes place at a long table for up to twenty guests and is great for groups or just to get to know some new people. This special luncheon also includes a complimentary blending experience where guests can try their hand at making their own olive oil, tea or coffee blend or even their own wine – with the option of purchasing a personalised bottle at the end. The cost is R350.00pp including wine.
The picnics are still being served seven days a week (order in advance) and consist of a generous basket of breads, cheeses, pates, salad, meats and more. It even comes with dessert and is beautifully presented on custom made servers, accompanied by rose-gold cutlery. Picnics serve two and guests can choose a Runner Duck (with wine R450.00 per basket) or a Driving Duck (without wine R395.00 per basket), both baskets come with water.
Make it a school holiday playdate as kids can get their very own picnic boxes, filled with healthy food and a beverage R75.00, and there is the option of a picnic with an activity in the box for R125.00.
Visitors can make use of the tables beneath stylish green and white umbrellas and old oaks or spread out on the lawn where boules and croquet is to hand.
If the weather is unpleasant, guests can enjoy their lunch in the barrel cellar.
Vergenoegd is open throughout the Easter Weekend.
On each day, the Duck Parade happens at 9:45 and 15:30 promptly. Daily wine tasting and wine sales will also continue throughout March.
