The Amadeus Winds is Cape Town’s oldest and best-known woodwind quintet will be playing at the Rust-en-Vrede Gallery on Wednesday 21 May.

The group was formed in 1982 and has been performing in and around Cape Town since then. The members are Elsabé Pretorius, flute; Henk Pretorius, oboe; Becky Steltzner, clarinet; Natalie Lawrenson, horn; and Simon Ball, bassoon.

The group has been chosen to open several important concert series, namely, the William Fehr Collection concert series, and the Greyton Lodge series. They have also played at Nederburg, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden’s outdoor series, and Josephine Mill. In 2006, they played at the International Horn Symposium held in Cape Town, as well as UCT’s 2006 Mozart Festival. They are particularly known for their large repertoire, which encompasses all periods, styles, and combinations other than the standard woodwind quintet.

The programme includes the Divertimento in Bb K.270 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
