The AVA Gallery moves into March with three new exhibitions that opened officially on Thursday 04 March.
So, let’s focus on what’s on in Cape Town at the AVA Gallery.
- lske Henderson – Lost Expectancies
In the Long gallery, Elske Henderson launches her solo, Lost Expectancies, an exhibition of feminist activism, in particular exposing the silence surrounding miscarriage.
- Songezo Zantsi & Ayabonga Machata – The Celebration of Identity
In the Mezzanine gallery, first-time exhibitors Songezo Zantsi & Ayabonga Machata proudly honour their heritage, traditions, triumphs and challenges, in a two-person exhibition titled The Celebration of Identity. (see image above)
- Ayesha Mukadam & Graham Geiger-Krige – Between Time
In the New Media room, we see the result of a months’-long experimental writing game, cadavre exquis (exquisite corpse), embarked on by Ayesha Mukadam & Graham Geiger-Krige. The resulting stream-of-consciousness poem inspired the film installation Between time.
And still, in the Main gallery, Tangeni Kambudu’s exhibition, More meaningful in your absence, continues.
Your safety is important to us. We have taken all the necessary health precautions and will be limiting the number of people in the gallery at any given time. So grab your mask and get to see these exhibitions!
