Lucy Tops brings her golden voice to Kalk Bay Theatre in a tribute to the one of the greatest singers of our time. She will perform Stealing the Show: Bette Midler for a limited season from 4 to 16 November.

Bette Midler started off singing in bathhouses and went on to fill stadiums. Her charm, talent and humility raise her above other divas and have secured her place in many people’s hearts.  Songbird Lucy Tops takes us on a journey as a luckless and desperate diva discovering the reasons why Bette’s music has the power to move us like no other.

Lucy, who is no stranger to the Kalk Bay Theatre stage (Absolucy; Face The Music) arrives hot off the sold-out extended run of the runaway hit The Rocky Horror Show.

Equally at home in the studio as on stage, Lucy is an acclaimed recording artist who is regularly heard on local radio stations and who has collaborated with some of SA’s leading talent. Chad Saaiman wrote her first single, ‘Higher Ground’ . Her first self penned song ‘Reaper’ made it to #4 on the GoodHope Fm Top 30 and ‘Summer’  can be heard on most local stations at the moment. Artists that Lucy has collaborated with include I-Scream & The Chocolate Stix, Prankster, DJ Cli, Soul Life and producer Ryan Reddy to name a few.

Stealing the Show: Bette Midler is directed by Garth Tavares, an accomplished musical director and choreographer, who also accompanies Lucy on stage.   It is written by Standard Bank Ovation Award winning writer, Jon Keevy (Dirty Words; Owl), whose many other talents include designing, producing and managing the Alexander Theatre and Bar.
