LOTS happening at Boschendal. Boschendal X Brundyn Art is a unique commercial partnership that presents quality exhibitions and educational art events.and Elana tell us about what is happening right now, and a sneak preview of what to look forward to in February 2024.
Boschendal is so special, given it’s sense of place, and Elana is very conscious of factoring this into her programming. With her background at the Zeitz MOCAA and Norval Foundation is seriously equipped to take on these challenges. Her passion is sculpture and relating it to this special landscape. The gallery will remain dedicated to developing a respected and engaging art programme that complements existing farm activities and initiatives.
The beautiful heritage gardens are also tempting her to expand exhibitions outdoors and comments on the major developments occurring in the gardens. [See Daily Maverick Boschendal’s gardens recognised ahead of exciting transformation. At the recently-held SA Landscapers Institute awards, Boschendal walked away with three distinctions:
Environmental Conservation Work | Landscape Design and Construction | Most Innovative and Original Use of Plant Material
Currently, there are two small exhibitions. The one is sculpture by an American artist, Peter Cohen, with an architectural focus. The other is the work of South African artist Gabriel Kruger. She also tells us about what to expect in February 2024!
Elana recognises, and in fact welcomes, the challenge of introducing the contemporary into the historic traditions of Boschendal and engaging with visitors to the estate at different levels.
