In collaboration with the Castle of Good Hope the Craft and Design Institute (CDI) has announced two special festive editions of Kuier@TheCastle – Cape Town CBD’s biggest family-friendly market and creative experience.
On 30 November and across 14 & 15 December, the Castle will transform into the city’s biggest gift market, providing a unique shopping and entertainment experience for locals and tourists alike. Join for a day filled with art, culture, creativity and community at the Castle of Good Hope.
Hosted by the CDI in collaboration with the Castle, the monthly event offers a vibrant mix of local artisans, food, entertainment, and creative workshops. A combination of live performers and DJ’s bring the local “gees”, and there is plenty to look forward to well into the afternoon, where fashion shows take the runway, with a special focus on young talent.
- Shop local, gift thoughtfully
As the festive season approaches, Kuier@TheCastle is the perfect destination for gift shopping. Visitors can browse an array of unique, handcrafted goods from Cape Town’s talented artisans and designers, ranging from homeware and fashion to art and accessories. With a vibrant atmosphere, Kuier@TheCastle is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to embrace the season’s spirit of giving.
- Exciting new collaborations
Adding to the festive fun, the November and December editions will feature exciting collaborations.
Paws-A-While (30 November): Paws-A-While is a registered non-profit company (NPC) and a proud member of the Cape Animal Welfare Forum. Their mission is to create a brighter future for animals by bringing together ethical welfare organisations, pet owners, foster parents, pet care businesses, and local government. The November market will offer unique gifts for furry family members and many adoptable pets looking for their forever homes.
Cape Town Plant Expo (14 & 15th December): Join us for Cape Town’s largest Plant Market. Succulents, Indoor Plants, Orchids, Outdoor Plants, Carnivorous Plants, and of course, plant related accessories. This is the second instalment of the Cape Town Plant Expo so be sure not to miss out.
- Family-friendly fun
Visitors can enjoy the Creative Corner, where festive-themed workshops will run throughout the day. Children will have the chance to craft their own holiday creations to take home, ensuring fun for the whole family.
- Explore the Castle’s history
In addition to the market, Kuier@TheCastle visitors will have access to the Castle of Good Hope’s world-class museums and exhibitions, including the William Fehr Collection and the Cape Heritage Museum, which feature on the Art Craft + Museums Map. This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the rich history of this iconic site.
