City Library Holiday Programmes beat the winter chill by offering hundreds of activities this winter school holiday to keep young ones busy and warm.
‘The winter school holiday doesn’t lend itself to many outdoor ventures, but that doesn’t mean children have to be inactive or bored. We have hundreds of programmes planned for the next few weeks that will not only help them stave off the boredom and gain confidence, but being busy will help our youth keep the forward momentum for when they do return to school,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Patricia van der Ross.
The City’s libraries are offering a wide range of activities from the usual board games, arts and crafts and movies to the more unusual such as science experiments and knitting classes.
‘I want to encourage parents to take the opportunity to keep their children constructively occupied this holiday. I have no doubt there is something exciting for everyone to chase the winter blues away,’ added Councillor Van der Ross.
In addition, to celebrate Youth Month, the City’s libraries will have a Fine Free Week for young people under the age of 17 from 26 June to 1 July. Return your outstanding items without paying a fine.
