CUSP – Collectable Design, curated by Jan Ernst, in partnership with House&Garden, is on exhibition until 21 May at Aspire Art.
CUSP is a unique exhibition of collectable South African design and functional art, now open for viewing at the gallery in Cape Town.
To be on the CUSP is to be at the exact moment of transformation, the movement from one state to another.
Designers include:
• Design Afrika
• Matthew Dasneves
• Jan Ernst
• Kevin Frankental
• Frances van Hasselt
• Khoso Leteba
• Meanca Neethling
• Ross Robertson
• Brett Rubin: Inland Collective
• Mpho Vackier: THEURBANNATIVE
• Laurie WIID
For these designers, reaching the CUSP represents transition from raw material to finished piece and, through their work, the shift from form and function to art and expression. CUSP results from this ensemble’s creative endeavour, given a primary material and the brief to create one-off pieces with nothing off limits.
Conceptualised by House&Garden and ceramic designer Jan Ernst, CUSP exhibits the exceptional work of South African designers and the arrival of functional art into the collectable design space.
This is the first edition of CUSP.
