Film, Arts and Animation Events take over Cape Town! Cape Town will be a hive of activity when FAME Week Africa, the Cape Town International Animation Festival and Comic Con Cape Town take place in October.
From 1 October to 5 October 2021, these events will be taking place at various venues across the city, including at the Artscape Theatre Centre, Labia Theatre, Guga S’Thebe, the V&A Waterfront and in Woodstock.
FAME Week Africa and Comic Con are new events in the Cape Town annual calendar, while the animation festival is in its 11th year.
‘This will be the first time since the outbreak of Covid-19 that we will have an uninterrupted week of events, and it is a great indication that the events industry is starting to emerge from the decline caused by the pandemic and subsequent national lockdown restrictions.
‘These film and media events provide an opportunity and a platform for local creatives and filmmakers to display their talent to the international market, while also learning from industry experts. We believe these events will be among the key events to provide the lifeblood needed to revitalise, not only the film and media sectors, but also the tourism industry,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security JP Smith.
FAME Week Africa
A safari of events where Film, Art, Media and Entertainment are packaged into one event.
FAME Week Africa comprises three days of exchange and networking, meetings, film screenings and conferences connecting industry professionals and creatives.
Its programme will also feature a business masterclass for performing arts, an emerging artist’s exhibition and bus tours to explore the City’s film and art locations.
As part of the inaugural event, FAME Week Africa will feature the FAME Reel Talent Showcase – a red carpet gala extravaganza, presenting emerging African artists in the creative industries. The aim of the FAME Reel Talent Showcase is to provide a platform for creatives in Africa to be seen and acknowledged by industry stakeholders, to showcase their work and to explore possible opportunities with industry leaders.
Although it is in its inaugural year, FAME Week Africa aims to be the unrivalled cornerstone of business development for the film, arts, media and entertainment industries
