Exhibitions you do not want to miss!
GILT by Mary Evans is a fascinating exhibition that comes to an end this month. It is also the subject of a book launched by Zeitz MOCAA on Saturday 28 October 2023. “Mary Evans: GILT” reflects on the artist’s oeuvre as a quietly disarming practice that uses the decorative to critique and counter the consumption of Black people and their labour and is published as the Nigerian-born, Britain-based artist’s first museum survey exhibition on the African continent comes to an end on 29 November 2023.
Seekers, Seers, Soothsayers explores thematic accounts and experiences connected to the non-physical world — spiritual, psychological, supernatural and abstract — by using the camera lens to expand, project and reflect on how historical narratives are carried through the body and passed on from generation to generation.
