The Friends of Orchestral Music are delighted to present a fundraising Sunset Soiree of music and conversation – in collaboration with Bowmans, featuring their breathtaking city views, delicious food and statement wines.
These glittering evenings take place on the 11th floor of the Bowmans’ Cape Town office, where guests will be greeted to a sunset drink overlooking the city, before settling down to a mix of chamber music featuring some of South Africa’s finest musicians and a fascinating talk ‘behind the music’. Â
This year the Friends are focusing on the orchestra – both on and off stage. The second soiree in the series celebrates the new generation of young musicians helped by the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
FMR presenter John Woodland, who gives the CPO’s pre-concert talks will open the proceedings and talk about youth in music to rising star soloist and chamber pianist Gerhard Joubert, and also the CPO’s Youth Education and Development Manager – John Minnaar-Msimang. Music will come from the CPYO’s Wind Quintet and solo piano from Gerhard Joubert.
Following this is a sumptuous canape supper, delicious wines and a chance to talk to the musicians.Â
Thanks to the generous support of Bowmans, Ian Burgess-Simpson Pianos and Bill van Rensburg, the Friends of Orchestral Music are able to bring you these unique evenings in order to raise much needed funds for the upliftment and development of orchestral music and musicians across Cape Town.
Limited tickets for the intimate event are available at a price of R600 per person. FOM members pay a special price of R500 – with all proceeds going to projects of the Friends of Orchestral Music. To book see below
