Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts is an invite to sing along, laugh and remember with songstress Vicky Sampson of Afrikan Dream fame and South African icons such as Marah Louw, Leslie Kleinsmith (see photo), Loukmaan and Emo Adams, and Dr Victor & The Rasta Rebels in February and March 2024.
The concerts are a Cape Town institution – renowned as one of the best ways to while away a warm summer evening, surrounded by friends and family – and the line-up for the February and March shows will bring happy memories flooding back.
Unity at Kirstenbosch on 4 February
A first for Kirstenbosch is Unity at Kirstenbosch with Emo and Loukmaan Adams. The concept is loosely based on entertainer Loukmaan’s wildly popular outdoor concert, Unity on the Square, which takes place annually on Reconciliation Day at Greenmarket Square. We now have a change of scenery to Kirstenbosch, and the show will include performances with his brother Emo.
The duo will be joined by various local artists including Idols SA season 17 winner Berry, Cape Town-based saxophonist Don Vino, songbird Millicent ‘Milly’ Milaz, and vocalist and actress, Edith Plaatjies.
Loukmaan refers to the expected performances as explosive and exciting and says that audiences will be able to experience some classic performances along with edgier showcases.
“We have a few surprises in store, but we want to keep much of it a secret. We do however always want to create a platform for the youth and up-and-coming performers,” says Loukmaan Adams.
