Love & Prozac, the smash-hit naughty comedy on dating in your 30’s makes a return season to Cape Town for a run at the Baxter’s Golden Arrow Studio from 13 to 31 May 2014.

One of South Africa’s funniest comediennes, actresses and voice artist Sonia Esgueira brings this hysterical com¬edy on the horrors of dating in your thirties, that’s directed by film and theatre maker John Trengove.

From Sea Point trophy wives and sleazy sugar daddies to speed dating, Indian love gurus, sizzled Portuguese mothers, trance parties and sangomas, this comedy is jam-packed with 13 hilarious South-African characters and razor-sharp wit coming from one actress. Whether your status is single, married, divorced or complicated, it gives a funny glimpse into just how far we will go to find “The One”.  Following one woman’s desperate attempt to snag herself a Hollywood ending, at whatever cost, she investigates what it means to find love in a fast paced 21st Century. The production has also received 5 star ratings by critics and viewers alike.

Sonia is best known on television for her role as Angelica in the drama series Jacob’s Cross.  She’s recognised in theatre circles for her “Porra” trilogy of comedy plays and won the Fleur du Cap award for Best Supporting Actress in 2004 for her role in the Maynardville production of Two Gentlemen of Verona, directed by Marthinus Basson.

John Trengrove is a South African film and theatre director, trained as an actor and theatre maker before completing his MFA in film at New York University.  His award-winning body of work includes numerous short and experimental films, television dramas, commercials, documentaries and theatre.
