The New Ticket System – Robben Island Museum (RIM) has appointed Plankton Solutions as RIM’s official ticketing platform service provider as of 12 January 2022.
Whilst bookings can still be secured on Webtickets during this period for tours until 15 January 2022, tickets for tours after 15 January 2022 will only be available on Plankton. This change will not have an impact on tickets already purchased via Webtickets prior the change of systems and these tickets will remain valid and will accepted upon boarding.
RIM, together with Plankton, will avail a step-by-step guide for refund and rescheduling processes, as well as implement automated notifications in the event of tour cancellation.
• Normal tour tickets can be booked here.
Standard tariffs for 2022 will remain unchanged
COVID-19 had a negative impact on the economy that led to a decline in domestic and international tourism with the various travel restrictions. RIM is no exception to this as 65% of RIM’s visitors are or were international visitors. RIM are pleased to announce that tariffs remain unchanged.
The following rates will remain applicable:
• R 400 for South African adults and R210 for South African children aged two to 18 years.
• R 600 for non-South African adults and R 310 for non-South African children aged two to 18 years.
The New Walking tour experience will be available on the plankton ticketing system as well. This new experience covers some sites that were/are not covered by the current standard bus tour. These sites were upgraded during the nationwide lockdown in 2020 and include the Visitors’ Centre, the land of banishment and the Robert Sobukwe Complex. This tour is unique because visitors will have an opportunity to walk in the footsteps of those who came before us and contributed significantly to South Africa’s liberation. A close interaction with our experienced tour guides and a return boat trip is also included in the tour, as well as a complimentary Robben Island Museum cap and bottled water. Tariffs for the walking tour are as follows:
• R 1000 for South African adults and R620 for South African children aged two to 18 years
• R 1400 for non-South African adults and R 820 for non-South African children aged two to 18
• For Private Tour Rates, please email privatetours@robben-island.org.za.
• Robben Island’s standard tour comprises of a ferry return trip, transport on the Island, a guided Island tour and a guided Prison tour.
• For tour specific enquiries, please email infow@robben-island.org.za.
