Three events form 1 to 5 October at the Rupert Museum

The Rupert Museum programme for the Toyota Stellenbosch Woordfees, while  there are still tickets available, cover the following three events form 1 to 5 October at the museum.

Tuesday 1 October, 11:00 – 12:00 – Artology Discussion with UP Museums Curator Gerard de Kamper
Artology- selected artworks from the UP Museums collection, on show at the Rupert Museum, features works by 20th and 21st century South African artists. Join Gerard de Kamper, University of Pretoria Museums Curator, as he talks about Dr Anton Rupert’s involvement at the University, his key donations to the UP collection and his private collection. The conversation will also highlight the work of artists such as Anton van Wouw, Coert Steynberg, Irma Stern, Edoardo Villa and others. See also Artology? Friday, 4 October, 11:00 – 12:00 or 13:00 14:00 Guided Tour with Rupert Museum Curator Eliz-Marié Schoonbee
Join Rupert Museum curator Eliz-Marie Schoonbee on a guided walk through the latest exhibitions at the Rupert Museum. This hour-long walkabout will focus on the array of genres and artists forming part of three exhibitions: The Art Collection of Huberte Rupert, The Song of Tapestry by Jean Lurçat and Artology; a selection of artworks from the collection of the University of Pretoria Museums. Please note seating is limited and participants must be willing to walk and stand for an hour. Each booking is accompanied by a coffee/tea voucher to be used at the museum café either before or after the tour on the day.

Saturday, 5 October 10:00 – 13:30 or 14:30 – 17:30 – Urban Sketching in Town with artist Fawa Conradie
Multimedia artist Fawa Conradie presents a workshop in which participants will draw inspiration from nature and buildings. Comfortable shoes are needed for the walk through the town. Participants will sketch with Fawa and are welcome to ask questions. A variety of drawing techniques and materials plus frames of reference are combined during the workshop. All materials will be supplied. This class is for both beginners and experienced artists.
