Invitation to the Dance – UCT / SU Piano Exchange Concert Tuesday 19 August 19:00
In their annual Piano Exchange concert, the Stellenbosch University Piano Division and the Piano Division of the University of Cape Town’s South African College of Music continue a decades-long tradition of sharing the stage in a collaborative variety programme.
Following the popular Clazz-themed concert of 2024 (a fusion of jazz and classical), audience members can look forward to dance-inspired gems from the repertoire in this year’s programme, titled “Invitation to the Dance”.
Concerts take place on Saturday 16 August at 7pm in the Fismer Hall, Stellenbosch and Tuesday 19 August at 7pm in the Baxter Concert Hall. All UCT and Stellenbosch students with a valid student card free at the door. Ticket prices: R120 full price admission R90 pensioners R50 scholars R0 UCT students

Opera UCT joins forces with the vocal division of Stellenbosch University for their fifth annual collaboration. Following the previous successes of Die Winterreise, Le poète disait, Great Lieder Composers and their Operas, and Canciones Españolas, this year they explore and celebrate the rich diversity of South African Art Song in all its variety of languages, styles and periods. Accompanied by Prof Jeremy Silver at the piano.
Concerts take place on Monday 25 August at 7pm in the Endler Hall, Stellenbosch and Tuesday 26 August at 7pm in the Baxter Concert Hall. All UCT and Stellenbosch students with a valid student card free at the door. Ticket prices: R120 full price admission R90 pensioners R50 scholars R0 UCT students
UCTSO Symphony Concert Tuesday 2 September 2025 19:00
Under the baton of Brandon Phillips, the presents a dynamic and diverse programme to close their 2025 season. The evening opens with the world premiere of Rondo from Symphony in E by Loren Ehlers, winner of the 2024 Jan Royce Foundation Prize for Orchestral Composition. Rising star Dané van Graan, winner of the 2024 Laura Searle Piano Competition, joins the orchestra for Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 1—a virtuosic showcase of youthful energy and brilliance. The programme culminates in Dvorák’s radiant Symphony No. 8, a work full of warmth, vitality and symphonic grandeur, offering a fittingly uplifting conclusion to the orchestra’s season.
