Join the StreetSmart weekend Cape Camino 2021 – a StreetSmart SA Fundraiser. Take some much-needed weekend time out, Friday 16 July – Sunday 18 July 2021, and come walk from Riebeek Kasteel to Tulbagh.
Riebeek Kasteel to Tulbagh 22 kms over 2 days with the help of local lifts. There’s the option to walk on to make the distances 20 km per day.
Arrive at your hosts on Friday afternoon and spend the evening in Riebeek Kasteel. You will dine out at one of Riebeek Kasteel’s restaurants.
Bring along an Afrikaans child’s book or magazine for the Camino Book Project – a movement started by one of our hosts, Hanti Badenhorst, in an effort to get local children reading. The drop off point is in Riebeek Kasteel.
Saturday is your first day of walking. The route is 13 km until the pick up point. You can choose to walk the full 23 km to Gouda, It is mostly flat, through wheat fields and farmlands. Breakfast is on route and prepared by a local farmer. The Smuts family will welcome you to their Biker’s Stop Bar and loft backpackers in Gouda.
On Sunday after breakfast, set off for your second day, 10 kms through the Tulbagh valley walking alongside a river until the pick up point. You can choose to walk the full 20 kms into the town of Tulbagh. End with lunch at Camino host, Paddagang.
Included: chaperones, a contribution to StreetSmart SA, 2 nights shared accommodation, breakfasts, supper at a restaurant in Riebeek Kasteel, lunch at Paddagang in Tulbagh, luggage transfers, Camino passport and t-shirt.
Not included: Transport back from Tulbagh, fee for local lifts if walking 10km per day, snacks..
Private upgrades available on request and subject to availability.
