The Beatles and World War II is a A Musical Mystery Tour of the Second World War, with music composed by The Beatles and directed by Tony Palmer.
In 1976, a unique film was released titled All This and World War II that featured covers of Beatles songs recorded by an amazing cast of music stars. The music accompanied archival WWII newsreel footage and clips from 1940s movies.
In 2016, an updated and completely revised version of the original movie with additional songs and vintage clips, re-edited by Tony Palmer, was released under the title of The Beatles & World War II. Note that viewing time is 12 hours.
Among the many famous musicians who contributed their talents are
- Elton John,
- The Bee Gees,
- Rod Stewart,
- Frankie Valli,
- Tina Turner,
- Helen Reddy,
- Peter Gabriel,
- Leo Sayer and
- David Essex.
While the movie features footage of WWII, it also references later events such as war-torn Syria and migration.
“A far more complex film than the original.” Director, Tony Palmer.
