The Big Issue #335 Bumper Christmas Edition, with Marc Lottering on the cover and a free copy of the 2025 Art Craft + Museums Map is available and your local vendor looks forward to your support!
There are 10 000 copies of The Bumper Edition and sales are intended to help vendors to raise the money they need to get back to the Eastern Cape and to cover back to school costs for their children. That’s the reason for the R50.00 price for this bumper edition.
Editor Laura Jones explains that The Big Issue South Africa was born 27 years ago when Brena Fassie’s Vuli’ Ndlela rang out, capturing the spirit of a new nation. She’s hoping that through all the changes and challenges, “we fervently pray for a miracle for a change in the upended order of things, for the silent cartel and race wars, for a better South Africa, however it must come about. Bring on the change.”
The heart of The Big Issue operation are the Vendor Training and Social Support Programmes – and the Vendor Art Project is featured each month. The work below was featured in The Big Issue Vendor Artists feature on the Arts Round Up. and we would like to feature these work here, as they would make wonderful Christmas gifts! So please be supportive – it’s the Christmas time of giving. See the works below and if you would like to purchase you can contact Elaine at E elainemillin@gmail.com Cost: R350, with R300 going to the vendor and R50 towards materials for the art programme.
