The Passion of Puccini – a concert involving several of the singers who took part in UCT Opera’s amazing The Tales of Hoffmann at the Baxter Theatre.
“After the recent amazing success of The Tales of Hoffmann at the Baxter Theatre, we are delighted to share with you details of a concert involving several of our singers at Christ Church Constantia on Sunday 1st October at 3pm”, reads the invitation.
Luvo Maranti starred in the title role in The Tales of Hoffmann. He has been shortlisted along with 27 other entrants world-wide for Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition to be held in Cape Town later this year.
Both Siphe Kwani and Zizipho Funzo also featured in the production. They will be joined by soprano, Ondelwa Martins, who can be seen again as Violetta in La traviata at the end of October, with Opera UCT coach, Dr Lisa Engelbrecht, at the piano.
Seven of Puccini’s operas are represented in this concert, including La bohème, La rondine, Manon Lescaut and Gianni Schicchi.
