The Two Oceans Aquarium, together with entertainment website Texx and the City, are joining forces once again to host After Dark 2019, their second stripped down series of events this winter featuring some of the Mother City’s finest bands.
Shadowclub, Dangerfields, Manny Walters and The Steezies are among the artists lined up to perform this year.
- Over four nights in May, June, July and August 2019, the viewing area in front of the I&J Ocean Exhibit will be transformed into a cozy, living room-style setting where you’ll be able to enjoy two bands on each evening.
Holding 1.6 million litres of sea water, the I&J Ocean Exhibit provides a massive home to stingrays, musselcracker, sea turtles and many more marine creatures. There really is no better, or more beautiful backdrop for any event.
“The Two Oceans Aquarium family was totally blown away by the success of After Dark 2018, so repeating these events in 2019 was an absolute no-brainer for us. In fact, we’ve added an extra date, and we’re over the moon to be working with Tecla Ciolfi again – we couldn’t do this without Texx and the City!” says Two Oceans Aquarium Marketing Manager Ingrid Sinclair.

Nautical themed microbrewery, Drifter Brewing Company will also provide either a tasty Buchu-infused Gin ‘n’ Tonic or a Pick Me Up Pale Ale to each guest upon arrival and the full range of Drifter beers will be on sale throughout each event.

Doors for After Dark 2019 open at 7pm with the first act on stage promptly at 8pm and the second act on at 9pm. A cash bar will be available and an option of a meat or vegetarian dish will be available for purchase before the event.

This year, After Dark ticket holders will also have access to a special Two Oceans Aquarium membership offer! Every After Dark ticket will entitle the holder to a year’s unlimited access to the Aquarium for just R245 (usual price R430).
If you’d like to see where your beautiful bevvies are produced, the Drifter Brewery tasting room is open every Friday evening from 4pm to 10pm and is available to hire for functions or parties.
