ROSS LEARMONTH will be performing a very special and one of a kind intimate show for the streaming public, as life is changing we are having to adapt to new ways to watch and interact with music. He will be performing stripped down unplugged versions of some of prime circles biggest hits and some new songs from his greatly anticipated up and coming solo album.
WANDILE MBAMBENI is a 26 year old South African artist making waves through the soul market internationally. Be it experimental, folk, or Afro soul, the young artist is successfully grounding his feet in an ever-changing industry. Hailing from the Eastern Cape province of South Africa and now setting roots in Jozi, Wandile’s career has been a magical one with the release of his three EPs, including ‘Maturation’ in 2017, the release of his debut album ‘Kwakumnandi’ in 2018, supporting International Soul singer TAMIA on her South African in 2019 and breaking into the mainstream market with his previous single ‘Wanted & Loved’ with Shekhinah. Wandile Mbambeni is a story teller, a music master and the soulful voice of his generation.
JIMMY NEVIS was born and raised in Cape Town. He is a young alternative pop singer, song writer and producer. Jimmy has a number of hit singles including Elephant Shoes, Heartboxing, In Love With You and Balloon, all of which are chart toppers on various radio stations. He aims to get South Africa back into pop music, as he feels it has been neglected and undermined. He has been nominated for many awards including the SAMA Kia Record of The Year, Wawela Awards for Best Male artist and composer as well as Channel O’s African Music Video Award. His music is driven by how the music feels as against how it sound, mixed with a dreamy, tribal and urban edge to its production. His music has qualities such as his gospel undertones, quirky lyrics, soulful vocals and catchy melodies.
ACOUSTIC ELEMENT (AE) The violin and guitar duo has quickly become one of Cape Town’s most contemporary acts. When cousins Callen Petersen and Jody Abel combined their musical talents, an extraordinary combo was born. Callen on the violin and Jody on the guitar make up the musical duo.
Both young musicians are graduates from the University of Cape Town. Callen completed his Bcomm in Financial Accounting in 2009 and went on to study Fashion Design at the Design Academy of Fashion, graduating in 2012. Jody completed his Film and Media undergrad in 2011, and went on to do a postgrad in Marketing. The combination of all these elements, combined with incredible musical ability, make Acoustic Element a band with a difference.
AE has performed alongside some of the country’s hottest performers, including Jimmy Nevis, Chad Saaiman, Bianca Le Grange and Auriol Hays. The duo has a diverse repertoire and are able to adapt their genre to suit any desired style and taste. From pop and rock, to jazz standards and smooth ballads, AE are able to cater for any function. They play both acoustically for a background feel, and also with pre mixed backing tracks and a DJ for a more party and festival event.
LADLES OF LOVE was founded in July 2014 based on the ancient Sanskrit word ‘Seva’ meaning giving of yourself wanting nothing in return. What started off as a weekly soup kitchen, serving around 100 meals weekly, grew into four weekly kitchens, four schools and four other organisations we assist with their feeding initiatives. Prior to lock down we were averaging just under 4000 meals a week to the homeless community and under privileged school kids in and around Cape Town.
As lock down was implemented we decided to increase our cooked meal production 1000% from 200 meals to 2000 meals a day. We have also created a network of homes producing sandwiches which are collected by our volunteers, brought to our kitchen and then distributed to those in need. As the homeless community have mostly been moved into Strandfontein, Haven seem to now be taking control of providing meals here, so we will continue to provide food to Safe Space and start redirecting more of our resources to the townships and other communities around the city. We are currently working with eight different organisations and CAN groups distributing sandwiches, cooked and/or raw ingredients which is allowing us to provide thousands of meals to the different communities and this seems to be growing daily. With the hope of been able to purchase as many meal packs as possible this will also hopefully extend our reach into the community that I get so many desperate calls for.
