Elmarie van Straten, Senior Art Specialist Strauss & Co, explains the theme for the 12th Welgemeend Art Month 2025 and details some of the related events for this much anticipated event at the historic homestead.
Listen to the Art Round Up on Fine Music Radio FMR 101.3fm on Fridays at 17h30
Elmarie explains that the underlying reason for the annual Welgemeend Art Month is to raise funds for the preservation of the historic building. The exhibition features works from private collections and the Kilbourn Collection, and is curated by Sean O’Toole.
The title is en Om Ons/ In and Around Us reflecting on artists in their daily lives, being in their physical surroundings as well as themselves internally. The works cover paintings, photographs, ceramics and sculpture.
The exhibition has a number of special events – the full programme can be viewed HERE. Elmarie highlights a few of the events.
