Join the Zeitz MOCAA BMW Centre for Art Education for an exciting week of children’s workshops over the 2024 Summer school holidays. “We have designed the holiday programme as an open studio to afford the children a choice of different activities in the same space and so that they can stay and create for as long as they would like.
Workshop activities are inspired by the Zeitz MOCAA children’s book series The Stories that Ran Away written by Meridian Berndt, and illustrated by Jill Joubert, Jax lamb, Meridian Berndt and Mandy Wamono”, reads the invitation.  BOOK YOUR TICKET

The Zeitz MOCAA Summer Holiday Programme is an invitation to unwind and immerse yourself in cutting-edge contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora. Enjoy solo exhibitions including the brand new One Must Be Seated by Rita Mawuena Benissan; Permanent Collection exhibitions Sala and Selections from the Collection; and the Zeitz MOCAA Atelier On Site Artist in Residence Programme, with Cape Town artist Berni Searle.
Also look out for Silo Through the Century: Into the Contemporary – Intermittent Architecture Exhibition in the Scheryn Arena, Level 0. Silo Through the Century: Into the Contemporary is a mobile infographic exhibition expanding on the rich history of the former grain silo and its transformation into a museum of contemporary art from Africa and its Diaspora.
Built in 1924, the Cape Town grain silo was stationed as one of the tallest buildings in South Africa and represented a shift in economic modes of production from agricultural to industrial systems. Situated within the iconic Victoria and Alfred port, the Cape Town grain silo was eventually reformed into the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. The exhibition details this transformation through the decades, highlighting key moments of operations from the 1920s, to the ambitious proposal to repurpose it in the early 2000s. Being mobile, the exhibition looks at the dynamic ways this building has transformed through the years and offers visitors closer insight through the layering of archival images, video, and objects.
Zeitz MOCAA members can look forward to an exciting lineup of events that spell a refreshing fusion of art, wellness and community. Explore our free-entry options as you plan your visit, and be mindful of museum closures on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. See slso Plan your visit
