The Eternal Cycle – DAVID GRIESSEL SOLO EXHIBITION – at Art@Africa opening 4 December

Art@Africa Gallery are delighted to announce the upcoming solo exhibition of David Griessel, titled The Eternal Cycle, opening 4 December.

Hailing from Bloemfontein and now based in Cape Town, David’s work moves effortlessly between whimsy and solemnity. His drawings explore themes of nomadism, alienation, and displacement, with literary references to Kafka, Nietzsche, Coleridge, and T.S. Eliot adding layers of meaning.

“My pictures are my own restless bastard children,” says David, embracing illustration as fine art and giving dignity to images that might otherwise be overlooked.

Join Art@Africa and David for the opening, and experience the delicate balance of imagination and reality on paper.

David Griessel,

“On the night of the exhibition, we will unveil an extraordinary artwork – The Eternal Cycle. Marking a career milestone for David Griessel, this piece is not only his largest to date but also one of the largest animated artworks globally beyond the sphere of street art. The three-minute animation is accompanied by an original soundtrack composed by a professional music composer.” Dirk Durnez.

“Art@Africa is more than a gallery. It is a platform where artists, audiences, and ideas meet, sparking dialogue and inspiring change”.
