The Two Oceans Aquarium has the honour of hosting international wildlife photographers Peter and Beverly Pickford for a speaker evening to showcase their mesmerizing work from their newest book, WILD OCEAN. “The Two Oceans Aquarium is thrilled to be hosting Peter and Beverly Pickford in celebration of their new book WILD OCEAN, showcasing the diversity of the world’s ocean and the marine life that call the ocean home,” said Helen Lockhart, Conservation and Sustainability Manager at the Two Oceans Aquarium.
From the acclaimed wildlife photographers and authors of the international bestseller WILD LAND comes a remarkable new project four years in the making. Peter and Beverly Pickford return with WILD OCEAN, a stunning and unforgettable portrait of some of the earth’s remaining wild marine environments and shorelines.
In a time where biodiversity and pristine ocean is under threat from over utilisation, the Pickfords set out to highlight what humanity stands to lose – by showing the astonishing beauty of what, for now, is alive and thriving.
Magnificent photographs reveal untouched marine habitats and dynamic coastal habitats, from South Africa’s Transkei Wild Coast and the vast tern flocks of the Seychelles to the endangered whale sharks of Australia’s Ningaloo Coast and the icy waters of Alaska and British Columbia’s southwest coast.
Experience the steamy rainforests of central America and Cuba’s protected Jardines de la Reina. Witness the legendary diversity of the Galápagos Islands, the deep-water reefs of the South Pacific’s Coral Triangle, the polar bear realms of the Arctic, and the penguins, seals and whales of South Georgia Island and Antarctica.
On the night, Peter and Beverly will set the stage for their collection of photographs by drawing on the accompanying text featured in the book. Their words detail their unbelievable journey through some of the planet’s most pristine waters, while issuing a vital call to action: that we must all play a part in protecting the wild ocean for the sake of its future – and ours.
