Departures & Arrivals features over twelve female artists – each exploring themes of identity, transition, and inner strength through painting, sculpture, textile, drawing, and mixed media, at Art@Africa Gallery, opening on Thursday, 7 August 2025 at 18:30. And YOU are invited.
Curated in honour of Women’s Month in South Africa, the exhibition brings together voices from the Art at Africa family, the Kunye Art Residency, and invited guest artists. At its core, it is an invitation to witness the moments where women depart from one chapter and step into another – forever changed and empowered.
This is a compelling group exhibition celebrating the rich, complex, and transformative journeys that shape a woman’s life.
As artists Valeria Talian and Anina Deetlef reflect:
“From childbirth, career shifts, and personal growth to aging, feminism, and identity, our aim is to honour the powerful narratives that emerge along the way.”
Art@Africa would love for you to experience this moment with them.
Opening Remarks by:
• Hamlin Jansen Van Vuuren (Rust & Vrede Curator)
• Anina Deetlef (Guest Artist)
• Valeria Talian (Art@Africa Artist)
