Nina Schuman, Cape Town Concert Series
Louise Howlett reports on Piano Recital with Nina Schumann at Casa Labia

“Nina Schumann is no stranger to Cape Town audiences, but she has not performed for the Cape Town Concert Series since 2014, so we are very happy to be able to support her concert. She has put together a special programme of works by Bach, Haydn, Debussy and Rachmaninoff which are very close to her heart, and she will talk about these pieces in between playing.

This week we should have been busy preparing for our last concert of the season, with a solo piano recital by Bryan Wallick – so when we heard that Nina Schumann would be playing a recital the next day – we felt this would be a wonderful alternative to offer at this time.

Concerts Connect is a new innovative series of concerts which will be streamed to audiences from different venues around the Western Cape and partnered with music societies around the country. This concert helps us to give back to you – our existing supporters as well as grow new audiences and support musicians in need.

As before we will again send out a special unique code for you to log onto. This email will either be sent on Saturday or the Sunday morning of the concert once we know all is ready for ‘action’.

We are also selling tickets through Quicket and we ask you to spread the word amongst your friends, both locally and internationally. For the last concert, we raised over R3000 for the Theatre Benevolent Fund. This month we will use the income from ticket sales to sponsor free tickets for music teachers and students, who are currently working so hard to keep music alive through the incredibly hard medium of online lessons.

Tickets are on sale from now until Wednesday 17th June at 6pm. This means that the concert will be available to be watched anytime until the end of Wednesday. This applies also to your guest link which you will receive on the weekend.”
