Where do antiques and collectables fit in, in this modern day and age. In  fact, antiques and collectables “pop”! They bring a warmth, and people need that warmth, which comes from  its history. It  is imbued with stories, bringing back memories of  parents and grandparents. It also tells the stories of how these items were brought to South Africa, which used to be by ship.

Essentially, as you can tell from the name, Ye Olde Artifact Cove & Shipwreck Shoppe the focus is on ships, so it’s all about maps and maritime items’ You will find items such as postcards of ships, books, ships’ wheels, and heavy duty ships’ bells.

The Hout Bay Trading Store is at the entrance to the Mainstream Mall, known as the fisherman’s village – which  is what Hout Bay is all about. The Mall has relics of the past to reflect that atmosphere. Hout Bay Trading Store has maps of the world and Hout Bay, and furniture items that focus on this maritime past.
