The Irma Stern Museum is the former home and studio of the acclaimed South African artist Irma Stern (1894 – 1966). Today, it is a vibrant exhibition space and part of Cape Town’s art scene, visited by art lovers young and old. Some rooms in the museum are kept substantially as Irma would have had them, whilst other spaces house temporary exhibitions.
The museum hosts cultural events and workshops throughout the year and has an active school education programme. The park-like Secret Garden at the museum is a much loved urban oasis where students and the general public find rest and relaxation.
